babystorm
Adobe Illustrator, graphic illustration, 17x22" poster, inkjet print

babystorm depicts the terror and emotion experienced during postpartum depression and anxiety. The baby rears its head, its cries, and electricity strikes the mother when she wants nothing more than to love her baby. It is an illustration of my experiences with postpartum depression and anxiety, the effects of which I still feel today. “babystorm” begins the conversation about postpartum depression and normalizes women who struggle to bond with their babies. Postpartum is not always this glowing, warm, wonderful time. Sometimes it is filled with questions, horror, and fear. This brings that side of postpartum to life.

It is intended to be a part of a series; more are on the way.
